Looking to upgrade to an MR or HR licence?

Mission Truck Training offers customised training programs to suit your individual needs and experience level.

Our innovative approach:

  • Focus on automatic truck driving: Prepare for the future of the industry while maintaining the flexibility to operate automatic and manual vehicles.

  • Flexible training options: Complete our 4-hour program in one day or spread it out over multiple sessions. Add extra hours to enhance your skills and confidence.

  • Expert instruction: Learn from an experienced instructor who will guide you through the road rules and prepare you for your driving test.

B Condition on your C class licence:

Upon successful completion of an MR or HR licence upgrade in an automatic truck, a "B condition" will be added to your licence by TMR (Transport and Main Roads).

If you have a manual car licence and pass your test in an automatic truck, you'll be licenced to drive both automatic and synchromesh trucks.

If you have an automatic car licence and train in an automatic truck, you'll only be permitted to drive automatic trucks.

Automatic transmissions offer several advantages for truck drivers:

  • Reduced Driver Fatigue: Automated gear changes minimize driver effort, leading to less fatigue and improved comfort.

  • Enhanced Passenger Comfort: Smoother gear transitions provide a more pleasant ride experience for passengers.

  • Reduced Maintenance Costs: Automatic trucks are less prone to damage from improper manual shifting, resulting in lower repair expenses.

  • Improved Safety: Eliminating the need for constant gear shifting and clutch operation allows drivers to focus more on road awareness and safety, reducing the risk of accidents.

  • Easier Practical Driving Tests: The absence of clutch and gear shift errors on the practical test makes it easier for drivers to achieve a successful outcome.

However, it's important to note:

  • Skill Development: Driving a heavy vehicle still requires a wide range of skills, and the absence of manual shifting does not diminish the importance of training and expertise.

  • Specialised Training: Auto truck transmissions have unique characteristics that require specific training to operate efficiently and safely.
