Can I drive a manual truck if I pass in an automatic truck?

If you already have a manual car driving licence then you will receive a B condition on your new licence, regardless of whether you take your test in an automatic or synchromesh  vehicle. The B condition means you are qualified to drive both synchromesh and automatic gearboxes. There is no need to re-demonstrate your ability to drive a manual vehicle, as you've already proven that in a previous driving test.

How many hours of training are included in your standard day course?

Our standard day course includes 4 hours of driving, followed by a 1 hour test with an examiner from Qld Transport & Main Roads.

Do you offer flexible scheduling for your training?

Yes, you can split  the training into multiple days to fit your schedule.

Is there a written theory test?

Yes there is a written rules test. You an take the test at any TMR customer service centre (no appointment needed.) The test fee is $28.70. You must get 8 out of 10 multiple choice questions correct to pass. If you don't pass, you can retake the test after 24 hours and pay another fee.​

What happens if I fail the practical driving test?

​Should you need to retest an additional fee applies: $420 for HR and $360 for MR.

What Jobs Can I Get with a Heavy Rigid Licence?

Is your truck automatic or manual?

Our truck, equipped with an automatic transmission, is versatile and can be both Medium Rigid and Heavy Rigid.

How long must I have held a car driving licence before I can apply for an MR or HR truck Licence?

​To learn to drive an MR (Medium Rigid) vehicle, you will need to have held a class C car licence (this includes both automatic and manual licences, but not a learners learner's) for a minimum of 1 year.

For those looking to drive a HR (Heavy Rigid) vehicle, the requirement is that you've held a class C car licence (automatic or manual, but not a learner's) for at least 2 years.
